Tuesday's Aquarium Excursion

My friend Ruth and I had fun this afternoon checking out a couple of local aquarium shops. Of course I found some fish that I want to go back and get next week lol.

On my list is this cute little guy - he is a Honey Dwarf Gourami. He grows to 4.5cms and is a hardy, peaceful fish usually found in the middle to top regions of the tank. Interestingly he is a labyrinth fish, so like a betta, he makes bubblenests when breeding and can breath air from the atmosphere as well as the water.

This long finned danio also took my fancy. I see zebra danios all the time but I particularly liked this ones, long flowing fins. I have never had any types of danios before so will find it interesting seeing what they are like. Apparently danios like to be kept in groups of 5 or more and easily breed.

For some reason red tailed sharks have piqued my interest once again and today I saw some good size ones that won't be intimidated by my larger pakistani loaches. It is always recommended to have only one red tailed shark per tank and to give them plenty of caves to choose from.
